JAY-Z ENTERS the CANNABIS MARKET AS CHIEF BRAND STRATEGIST

HOV JOINS PARTNERSHIP WITH CALIFORNIA BASED CANNABIS COMPANY ‘CALIVA’, ANOTHER CELEBRITY TO INVEST IN THE GROWING CANNABIS MARKET NORTH AMERICA.

As part of a multi-year partnership, Jay-Z’s latest role is Chief Brand Strategist. Jay-Z (Shawn Carter), who infamously started out dealing drugs in Brooklyn’s notorious Marcy Projects before becoming a successful rapper and entrepreneur, has now entered the legal cannabis business with California-based company CALIVA which was founded in 2015. With HOV on the team, he will help with creative decisions, strategy, and a big focus on the social justice issues surrounding legalization and representation: (he says) “advocacy, job training and overall employee and workforce development.”

Anything I do, I want to do correctly and at the highest level. With all the potential in the cannabis industry, Caliva’s expertise and ethos make them the best partners for this endeavor. We want to create something amazing, have fun in the process, do good and bring people along the way.

CALIVA

“For Jay-Z to seek out Caliva as a partner is humbling and confirms our mission of being the most trusted name in cannabis,” says Caliva CEO, Dennis O’Malley. “To find that we were in complete alignment around our values and ethos was just a home run. We believe this partnership is unparalleled in this or any business and we could not be more pleased to be working with him and have him as our Chief Brand Strategist.”

It is not a surprise that Jay-Z included cannabis as his next venture in his growing empire - and finding the right company to partner with speaks greatly to the quality we can expect from Caliva.

Jay-Z is the latest celebrity to enter the cannabis business, with other notable celebrities including Snoop Dogg (Leafs by Snoop), 2Chainz (The Gas Cannabis Co.), Whoopi Goldberg (Whoopi & Maya), Ricky Williams (Real Wellness - see our post here), Willie Nelson (Willie’s Reserve), Ghostface Killah (Wu Goo), Wiz Khalifa (Khalifa Kush), Mike Tyson (Tyson Ranch) and Seth Rogen (Houseplant).

Looking forward to what JAY-Z x CALIVA have in store…
