FORMER NFL PLAYER RICKY WILLIAMS LAUNCHES CANNABIS BASED WELLNESS BRAND
"Cannabis has played an important part in my healing journey, and I feel a responsibility to share what I have learned in the process."
Ricky Williams, Brand Leader & VP, Product Development for Real Wellness
Ricky Williams, former college football star and pro running back in the NFL was once labeled a “pot head” for his four failed drug tests thT triggered suspensions, costing him hundreds and thousands of dollars in fines. Williams, now 40, looks more like a prophet, with 91 percent of Americans in favor adult medical marijuana use and the NFL signaling it’s open to studying marijuana for pain management. Williams is now leveraging his credibility in the cannabis community with his 15 years studying holistic healing to launch his own marijuana brand - Real Wellness by Ricky Williams. Real Wellness by Ricky Williams launched in California last month (March 2018) with six products designed to be incorporated into daily routines, with two products specific to Sports. All products are made with formulas combining CBD (cannabidiol) and THC with herbal extracts. Williams partnered with California’s OutCo to grow, extract and formulate products incorporating his study of Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine.
“I’m a healer now,” Williams told The Cannabist. “I’m excited for that world to converge with cannabis. Single herbs are never given alone to treat a condition,” he explains. “Herbal formulations are the best treatments and ameliorate side effects of any of the individual herbs.”

The RW Sport line includes a two products, intended for Pre and Post game: 'OPTIMIZE' and 'MAINTENANCE & REPAIR'. 'OPTIMIZE' is ideal for Pre-Game, and is a high-CBD tonic made with with cinnamon bark, hook vine, licorice and white peony, which increase blood flow and enhance focus, according to the company. “The athlete that eats healthier performs better,” says Williams (source The Cannabist), “Natural herbs aren’t drugs, but, for instance, there are herb formulations to help build muscle.”
